Vice President of Financial Services and Operations

Jim Adkins earned a Master of Science in accounting from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Boise State University. He has more than 17 years of experience in higher education, finance, and administration.

Jim joined Prince George’s Community College in November 2024 as financial services and operations vice president. He oversees the Center for Performing Arts and Events Management, Auxiliary Services, the Controller’s Office, Budget, Procurement, and the Department of Public Safety, Facilities, and Construction and Planning. His guiding principles for financial services and operations are communicating clearly and promptly, demonstrating competence to those relying on the College’s expertise, and always displaying a good attitude.

Before joining the College, Jim served as executive director of finance and chief business officer at the University of Texas, where he was a key member of the vice president for the Division of Student Affairs leadership team. He previously served as assistant dean of finance and administration in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Portland State University. He has also excelled in previous roles streamlining and improving processes.

Jim grew up in Boise, Idaho, but has lived in Oregon, Indiana, and Texas. He currently lives with his wife near the Chesapeake Bay and enjoys working in the yard, sailing, and rooting for the area’s major sports teams.
