Registering for a Consortium Course

PGCC students interested in registering for a course through the Consortium should complete the Consortium Registration form.  The Consortium Coordinator will be in contact within 7-10 business days. Registration is not guaranteed until both PGCC and the visiting institution approve the registration request. Additionally, please note that teaching institutions may not review and/or approve your request until right before the semester begins.  As such, students are encouraged to have a back up plan in place in case their Consortium registration request is not approved.

Students in their final semester are discouraged from registering for a Consortium, as it may delay their graduation.

Registration Deadlines

If the class starts within 4 weeks of PGCC's semester start date – request must be submitted two weeks before PGCC semester start date.

If the class starts 3 weeks or more after the PGCC semester start date – request must be submitted by the PGCC semester start date.

Important Information for PGCC Students

Tuition and fees

Tuition for courses taken under the Consortium arrangement is assessed at the current PGCC tuition rate and paid to PGCC. Students may use financial aid for Consortium courses. Additional course fees may be charged by, and must be paid directly to, the visited institution. Dropped courses are subject to PGGC’s  refund schedule.

Credit Articulation and Academic Policies

Courses taken through the Consortium are considered to be institutional credit. Grades will be recorded on the student’s PGCC transcript and factored into the student’s PGCC GPA. PGCC will post the closest equivalent grade available in our grading scale.

PGCC students taking classes through the Consortium are subject to PGCC’s published add, drop, and withdrawal deadlines. Please refer to the academic calendar for more details. Failure to observe the published drop/withdrawal deadlines will result in a grade of F or FX on a student’s academic transcript.

Once a student is enrolled in a course through the Consortium, the course cannot be changed to transfer credit after the Consortium registration deadline.

Unless otherwise noted, PGCC students taking a course through the Consortium are required to observe the visited institution’s academic and social policies, rules, and regulations.

Visiting Students

Visiting students should contact the Consortium Coordinator at their home institution for information regarding registration procedures and to complete any required paperwork.

Registration for requested courses is not guaranteed. Participation is limited by both course availability and consortium policies at the home institution.

Students may be responsible for contacting instructors and or course departments for courses that require approval or permission.

Students may be requested to submit academic transcripts prior to course registration approval.

If a visiting student’s Consortium registration request is approved by both PGCC and their home institution, they should refer to their welcome letter for important information about accessing courses, obtaining ID cards, purchasing books, etc.

Deadlines for Visiting Consortium Students

PGCC must receive request at least a week before the class start date.
