The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program provides employment opportunities for students who demonstrate eligibility after completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

This program allows students with financial needs to earn money to help cover education-related expenses. Please note that job opportunities within the FWS program are limited.

Note: Interested students should ensure they have completed the 2025-26 FAFSA and the Federal Work-Study applications.

Complete the Application

Students interested in participating in FWS should complete the Federal Work-Study Application.

Virtual Orientation Session

All Federal Work-Study participants, whether new or returning, must attend a mandatory virtual orientation. This session is essential for all students, regardless of their previous experience with the FWS program.

Purpose of Federal Work-Study

At PGCC, the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program provides students with real-world learning opportunities. Gaining work experience enhances a student’s education and helps develop professional skills that contribute to academic and career success. This hands-on experience enriches students’ education and fosters skills essential for their future careers.

FWS allows students to work both on campus and in local communities, helping them to build their leadership abilities. Those participating in the PGCC Federal Work-Study program can include this valuable work experience on their resumes.

Program Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Federal Work-Study program, students must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Student Financial Aid Office. Eligibility requirements also require participants to enroll in at least six credits and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress. Failure to meet these criteria will result in program ineligibility or immediate termination, if employed.

Student employees do not receive the College benefits available to part-time or full-time staff. Those ineligible for student employment can explore other opportunities through Equity, Culture, and Talent.
