The Cyber Workforce Accelerator™ (CWA) program offers an opportunity to gain the necessary skills for gainful employment in cybersecurity. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay for Information Security Analysts is $124,910 annually. The job outlook is also expected to grow 33% faster than average through 2033.
Objectives
The CWA program is designed to get you job-ready fast. This online program includes immersive training on a cyber range and makes it easy to gain the technical skills for entry-level security operations center (SOC) roles, including:
- Threat analysis
- Security operations
- Enterprise security
- Hands-on incident response
Training Overview
- Program length: 48 hours (plus exam)
- Program cost: No cost (up to 1,100 students maximum)
- Schedule: Rolling enrollment year-round with online training
- Certification earned: SOC Operations Analyst I (SOCOA I) Certification
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be enrolled at Prince George's Community College.
- Must be pursuing or have earned an associate degree in information technology (IT) or cybersecurity, or hold at least two of the following certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+.
- Must be seeking employment in the IT or cybersecurity field.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be a Maryland resident.
- Must have no criminal convictions.
- Must be 18 years old or older, or 17 turning 18 within six months of the program start.
Curriculum
This program offers specialized SOC training through BCR Cyber's SOC Operations Analyst (SOCOA I) Training and Certification—an industry-recognized credential employers trust.
- Part I – Asynchronous Training (40 hours): Build foundational expertise in cybersecurity governance, threat analysis, networking, Linux command line, and attacker behavior.
- Part II – Experiential Range Training (8 hours): Engage in instructor-led exercises on the BCR Cyber Series 3000 Cyber Range, where you detect, mitigate, and remediate simulated cyber attacks.
- Certification Exam: A rigorous 100-question, 90-minute test to measure your technical and operational proficiency.
Certification
Upon completion, you will earn the SOC Operations Analyst I (SOCOA I) Certification, a credential recognized by the state of Maryland that prepares you for entry-level cybersecurity positions. Through immersive training, you will gain real-world skills employers need.
