Providing educational and support services to active-duty service members, veterans, reservists, spouses, dependents, and their families.
Military and Veterans
Services Office
Prince George’s Community College is approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
Supporting Those Who Serve
The Military and Veteran Services Office at PGCC supports active-duty service members, veterans, reservists, spouses, dependents of disabled and deceased veterans, and their families in applying for educational benefits, connecting with resources, and receiving tutoring, as well as academic and career counseling.
While only the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) determines eligibility for VA Education Benefits, our office ensures all students are informed about their options and resources, receive guidance, and remain knowledgeable about the appropriate applications for benefits.
Enrollment Certification
Our office certifies enrollment status for military-connected students to the VA, ensuring beneficiaries receive their payments. Please note the following:
- Continuing Education courses, audited courses, repeated courses, or courses outside your program of study are not eligible for VA certification.
- All students must complete an education benefit request every semester through the Military and Veteran Services Canvas page.
Certification for Repeated Courses
Repeated courses are typically ineligible for certification, even if previously paid by the VA. However, exceptions may apply. Please contact our office for clarification.
Military and Veteran Services Canvas Page
All VA Education Benefit requests must be submitted through our Military and Veteran Services Canvas page. This page offers digital dynamic forms, document submission portals, informational materials, and helpful resources.

Information for Active-Duty Students
Active-duty military students must consult with their Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within their military service before applying for admission to the College. Once prepared, students can connect with one of our military and veteran admissions advisors for personalized guidance.
Please refer to our application instructions for more information about the admissions process.
Credit Transfer Policy
The VA requires that students using VA Education Benefits must have all prior credits evaluated by the end of their first semester. This applies to institutional transcripts and Joint Service Transcripts. Failure to do so may result in repeated coursework or VA debt.
Students may be awarded credit for prior educational experiences in which college-level learning may be verified by documentation or assessments. A maximum of 45 credit hours may be transferred for any one associate degree, of which not more than 30 credits may have been earned through nontraditional or noncollegiate sources.
Submit all transcripts directly to:
Email: transfercredit@pgcc.edu
Mail: Prince George's Community College, Transfer Evaluator, 301 Largo Road, Largo, MD 20774
