This year’s evening concert features the Patterson/Purcell Project, a collaboration between two of the Washington, D.C., area’s leading jazz composers—guitarist Shawn Purcell and trombonist Ben Patterson. The ensemble includes some of the DMV’s top jazz musicians, including vocalist Darden Purcell, pianist Harry Appelman, bassist Regan Brough, and drummer Todd Harrison. Together, they showcase original works by the co-leaders that push the boundaries of modern jazz.
