Largo, MD (December 2, 2025
) — Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) and Prince George’s Community College (PGCC), in partnership with county leaders, announced a significant expansion of the county’s tuition-free college credit initiative, Dual in the Schools. The program will expand from five to nearly 25 high schools by next school year, making it one of the region’s largest advancements in dual enrollment access.

This expansion increases equitable access to college courses, reduces financial barriers for families, and strengthens the partnership between PGCPS and PGCC. Research demonstrates that dual enrollment accelerates students’ progress toward a college degree, reduces overall college costs, increases college matriculation, and enhances the rigor of high school coursework.

“Dual in the Schools represents a transformational step forward for our students and our county,” PGCC President Falecia D. Williams, Ed.D., said. “By bringing college courses directly into our high schools, we are removing barriers and opening doors to ensure that every student has access to a head start on their college journey.”

By the 2026–27 school year, this program is slated to bring college-level courses directly into every PGCPS high school. Courses will be taught by district educators who are also credentialed PGCC professors, allowing students to earn tuition-free college credit within their own school buildings and daily schedules.
