Largo, MD (November 21, 2025) — Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) is proud to announce its selection as a grant recipient from the Maryland Partnership for Proven Programs. Gov. Wes Moore and Arnold Ventures awarded a total of $20 million statewide to expand evidence-based initiatives that support Maryland youth and students. As part of this investment, PGCC, Harford Community College, Wor-Wic Community College, and the Community College of Baltimore County will share $14.4 million to implement the nationally recognized Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) model.
Launched in February 2024, the Maryland Partnership for Proven Programs is an evidence-based philanthropic partnership between the State of Maryland and Arnold Ventures. The initiative provides matching philanthropic funds to scale programs shown to improve economic mobility, education outcomes, workforce training, and crime prevention.
PGCC will replicate the ASAP model through the $14.4 million investment shared among the four community colleges. The ASAP model is a comprehensive and effective student success program designed to provide intensive academic, personal, and financial support that helps students stay on track and accelerate degree completion. National research has demonstrated that ASAP has a significant impact on community college graduation rates.
“Prince George’s Community College is honored to be part of this historic partnership that prioritizes evidence-based strategies to ensure our students not only enroll but graduate and succeed,” PGCC President Falecia D. Williams, Ed.D., said.
PGCC will begin implementing an official replication of the ASAP model in collaboration with the Maryland Higher Education Commission and fellow partner institutions. W.I.S.E. Path stands for Wisdom, Initiative, Support, Excellence, and recognizes the wisdom of owls and the journey of accelerated learning.
“The WISE Path program advances PGCC’s mission of equitable access and student success by integrating flexible learning with comprehensive support,” PGCC Vice President for Student Affairs Tyson Beale, Ph.D., said. “Aligned with College priorities, it strengthens advising, accelerates completion, and transforms pathways to graduation and the workforce.”
