LARGO, MD (June 13, 2025) — Prince George's Community College (PGCC) will host a Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 14, regardless of the weather. To accommodate forecasted rain, the event will move indoors on the campus.
WHAT: PGCC’s Juneteenth festival celebration is a free, family-friendly event that honors African American history, culture, and progress. The event will feature WPGC 95.5’s DJ Flexx live, cultural performances including West African dance and drum circles, and historical reenactments with the Buffalo Soldiers. Participants will have the opportunity to taste local flavors from food trucks, access wellness resources at the Health Care Village, and enjoy arts and games for all ages. WHY: Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas on June 19, 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War.
