Courses
Classes are offered online and in person.
English in America
Description: Create a resume, practice interview skills, and learn about the American workplace, the health care system, government, and schools. Receive a certificate of completion.
Requirements: Intermediate or advanced English skills are required.
Class Schedule – Ongoing
Child Care
Description: Practice English and learn vocabulary and skills to work in a childcare facility or family childcare business. Students must complete these classes to work in a childcare facility or family childcare business in Maryland. Receive six certificates from the Maryland State Department of Education’s Office of Child Care, one for each class.

- Childcare 1: Preschool Age
- Childcare 2: Infants and Toddlers
- Childcare 2: School-Aged Children
- Childcare Family Business
- Communication Skills for Child Care Professionals
- Childcare Writing Portfolio
- Writing statements and other resources to create a childcare portfolio book to prepare for a Childcare Development Associates (CDA) Certificate.
- Requirements: Students must first complete the six childcare classes listed above. Students must also be working at a child care center.
Health Care
Certified Nursing Assistant and Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Description: Practice English skills and learn vocabulary associated with nursing. Learn hands-on nursing skills and complete 40 hours of clinicals. Earn a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate and a Geriatric Nursing Certificate from the Maryland Board of Nursing.
Spring: 6-9 p.m.

Community Health Worker
Description: Build an English vocabulary related to public health while practicing listening and speaking skills to understand and explain health information. Complete 40 practicum hours and earn a Community Health Worker Certificate from the Maryland Department of Public Health.
Requirements: Intermediate or advanced English skills are required.

Culinary Arts and Baking
Culinary Arts
Description: Learn English skills and vocabulary for culinary arts, bake pastries, quiche, and pizza, cook sauces, and more. Learn food safety and knife skills and earn a ServSafe Manager Certificate.

Spring: 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Construction
Core Construction Skills
Description: Learn English vocabulary related to construction and practice English skills. This class is an introduction to construction safety, math, hand and power tools, construction drawings, basic rigging, materials handling, employability, and communication skills. Earn a certificate from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

Spring: 6-9 p.m.
Location: Largo campus
Requirements: Intermediate or advanced English skills are required. Construction requires math skills, and students will be evaluated on their math knowledge before being placed in the course.
Program Requirements
To register for this program, participants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be a Maryland resident.
- Be eligible to work in the United States.
- Have a high school diploma for some programs.
- Have an intermediate or advanced level of English skills.
- Take a placement test.
