Innovation Model
The TLC Innovation Model is a four-layer framework that guides all CEPTL work through a coherent, evidence-informed approach to educator development and institutional change. It integrates futures thinking, the ATD Four Cornerstones, NLC’s 16 Principles and the Three-Level Change Model to help PGCC educators adapt, grow and lead in an evolving educational landscape.
Each layer builds on the next, moving from adaptive capacity to methodological rigor, quality standards and implementation strategy. Together, they form a comprehensive ecosystem designed to support sustainable educational excellence at PGCC.
Current and Excellent Practices in Teaching and Learning (CEPTL)
The Current and Excellent Practices in Teaching and Learning (CEPTL) framework is PGCC’s institutional foundation for defining, developing and recognizing teaching excellence across the college community.
Organized around five core competency domains — student success, institutional awareness, governance and policy, instructional transformation and leadership — CEPTL provides educators with a shared language for reflective practice, professional growth and evidence-based instruction.
Grounded in equity and responsive to the diverse needs of Prince George’s County students, CEPTL connects individual teaching practice to the college’s mission of open-access, student-centered learning. Learn more about CEPTL through the downloadable app.
Engagement Pathways
The TLC Engagement Pathways offer PGCC educators flexible entry points into professional learning based on their needs, interests and availability. Whether you are exploring new approaches as an Observer, building skills as a Learner, sharing expertise as a Contributor, partnering as a Collaborator or leading as a Champion, each pathway provides a clear way to engage.
All pathways support evidence-based practice and align with the CEPTL Competencies framework, connecting professional development to student success. Review the pathways to find the best fit for your goals.
