Our Class-M license program is tailored for both beginner and experienced riders.
Learn How to Ride Safely
Successful motorcycling is not just about being careful and having good instincts; it requires specialized knowledge, skills, techniques, and strategies. If you have never ridden, are self-taught, or have learned from friends, you will benefit from our professional training, which we've offered for over 35 years.
Our motorcycle classes are led by certified ride coaches, both male and female, who are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and empowering learning environment for all riders. The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation train and certify our instructors.
Program Overview
The MVA requires all students to complete an online Motorcycle Safety Foundation course as part of the licensing program. Students will receive online course information on the first day of class.
This program includes classroom and range sessions (on a motorcycle or scooter). A training motorcycle or scooter will be reserved when registering for the Basic Rider Course (BRC) or Basic Rider Course 2-LW (BRC2-LW). Students attending weekend sessions should bring a snack or a bagged lunch.
Note: A valid email address is required to register for this course.
What to Wear
Students must come to the range sessions with the following gear:
- Long-sleeve shirt or jacket
- Long pants
- Sturdy low-heeled shoes or boots covering the ankles
- Full-fingered leather gloves
- Department of Transportation (DOT)-certified helmet covering the ears
- Eye protection (e.g., face shield, goggles, or sunglasses)
Weather Policy
Classes are held rain or shine.
Class M Licensing
Those who are currently licensed in Maryland (with a Class-C license) and have completed the BRC or BRC2-LW courses will receive a Maryland MVA Certificate of Completion. You must also present the certificate to any full-service MVA (in addition to a vision exam and paying a licensing fee) to receive your Class M (motorcycle) license endorsement. This endorsement is required to ride motorcycles on public roads legally.
Out-of-state residents will only receive a Maryland Motorcycle Safety Program completion card. Out-of-state residents should verify with their hometown MVA whether the card is ready for licensing.
Students who complete the BRC or BRC2-LW course will receive a Maryland Motorcycle Safety Program completion card. You should present this card to your insurance company to see if it qualifies for premium discounts.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete an online Motorcycle Safety Foundation course. (Students will receive information on the first day of class.)

Student Retesting
Per our contract with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and the Motor Vehicle Administration, students are permitted one (1) retest for the skills portion and one (1) retest for the written assessment. If you do not pass on the second attempt, you must pay to retake the entire course.
Please Note: Per policies established by the Motor Vehicle Administration and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, course completion is valid for only 6 weeks (30 business days).
Students receive retest documentation in their Monday night folder outlining the retest policy. These policies are reviewed again on Sunday when students take their written exam. In addition, each student signs a document on Monday acknowledging the retest policy and the required timeframe to return for a retest.
