Registration and Enrollment

How do I register?

You can register for SAGE classes online through Owl Link (myPGCC), by mail, or in person at the Office of Records and Registration. You can also contact the Office of Workforce Development and Continuing Education (301-546-0159) or the SAGE Office (301-546-0923) for further assistance. Early registration is highly recommended, as classes tend to fill up quickly.

Do I need a PGCC student ID number to register?

Yes. All students must have a PGCC student ID number to register for classes. New students can create an account online through Owl Link (myPGCC).

Can I register for classes that overlap in time?

No. Students may not register for classes that overlap in time. Please review the schedule carefully to ensure your classes do not conflict.

Can I be added to a waitlist when classes are full?

No. There is no waitlist option for SAGE classes. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If a class is full, you may check back periodically to see if space becomes available.

Can I audit or observe a SAGE class before enrolling?

No. Only registered students may attend classes due to space limitations and liability requirements.

Costs and Payments

Is SAGE free for seniors?

Yes. Maryland residents aged 60 and older can take SAGE classes tuition-free. There is a $40 registration fee per class to cover materials and administrative costs. Non-Maryland residents and participants under 60 years old pay the standard course fees listed in the catalog.

Can I take other PGCC classes outside of SAGE for the same cost?

SAGE tuition waiver benefits apply only to designated SAGE courses. However, seniors may take other classes at discounted rates as applicable. See College Catalog and Class Schedules.

Does the SAGE scholarship apply to non-SAGE classes?

No. The SAGE scholarship applies only to approved SAGE courses. Other credit, Continuing Education, or workforce development training programs have separate costs and funding options.

Dropping Classes and Refunds

How long do I have to drop a class once classes have started?

To receive a refund, classes must be dropped before the official start of the semester. No refunds are issued once the semester begins. Contact the Office of Workforce Development and Continuing Education (301-546-0159) or the SAGE Office (301-546-0923) if you need to drop a class before the deadline.

Where is my refund?

The PGCC Cashier's Office will process your refund. Refunds are typically issued to the original payment method within a few weeks. For questions or assistance, contact the Cashier's Office (301-546-0691).

Class Information

Where are SAGE classes held?

SAGE classes are held at various community sites throughout Prince George's County, including senior centers, community centers, and PGCC locations. Class locations are listed in the online catalog.

How will I know if my class is canceled?

If a class is canceled due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, the SAGE Office will notify students via their email address on file. Be sure your account is up to date. Refunds are automatically processed for canceled classes.

What happens if the College or site is closed due to weather or emergencies?

If any PGCC location or your class site closes due to inclement weather or emergencies, SAGE classes are canceled or moved online following the College's operating status.

Are SAGE classes graded?

No. SAGE classes are noncredit and ungraded. They are designed for lifelong learning, personal enrichment, and social engagement. Attendance and participation are encouraged.

Can I suggest new SAGE class topics or instructors?

Yes, SAGE values all community input. Share suggestions for new courses or instructors by emailing sage@pgcc.edu or speaking with the site's coordinator.
