Learn how the General Counsel supports PGCC through compliance oversight and policy development.

About the General Counsel

The Vice President for Policy and General Counsel is the College’s in-house attorney, responsible for ensuring the College’s compliance with state and federal laws and regulations; responding to requests for information, subpoenas, complaints, and other forms of legal process; and proactive thought partnership with the College President and other members of the Senior Team to steer the College toward fulfillment of its strategic goals while advising on known and anticipated matters of legal concern.

The General Counsel represents Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) and works only on College-related matters. The General Counsel does not provide legal advice or representation to individual members of the College community regarding personal matters unrelated to their employment or academic relationship with PGCC. The General Counsel may coordinate with outside counsel to address specific legal issues as they arise.

Information Requests under the Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA)

The General Counsel is the College’s official Records Custodian for MPIA requests. Learn more about the MPIA and how to request information.

Service of Subpoenas and Other Legal Processes

The General Counsel is authorized to receive service of process against the College or its Board of Trustees. Any PGCC employee or student who receives a court order or subpoena related to College operations, or is contacted by an attorney or law enforcement official related to College operations, should immediately contact the General Counsel.
