Our Construction and Skilled Trades courses at PGCC offer knowledge and hands-on training in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R, welding, locksmithing, building maintenance, and stationary engineering. Most of our programs offer formal trades certification through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) or other trade-specific certifying bodies. Whether you seek a career in the trades or want to learn new skills, we invite you to check out our courses.

How to Get Started

New Students

Credit and Registration Information

Some Construction and Skilled Trades courses are cross-listed as credit courses, meaning you can take them for academic credit toward an associate degree. These include Core Construction Skills, Electrical, Carpentry, and Daytime HVAC/R Levels 1 and 2.

Taking Courses for Credit

If you want to enroll as a credit student, you must apply for admission. Note that some forms of federal financial aid available through the FAFSA are only available to credit students seeking an associate degree. Taking classes for credit is not required to earn an industry-recognized trade credential.

For help deciding if taking classes for credit is right for you, contact the Office of Recruitment and Admissions (Bladen Hall, Room 125) by calling 301-546-0864 or emailing apply@pgcc.edu
